First Impressions Count – why professional headshots are key for networking

Since my fine art exhibition ‘Simply Fleeting’ completed its residency in Woodbridge, I have been taking some time to gather my thoughts and reflect back over just what it meant to me and what the takeaways are.

Reading through all the wonderful comments in the guest book, I realised just how many people took the time out to come and say hello, and I also realised just how many of those I was actually physically meeting for the first time, even though some have been virtual connections for quite a while. But it was often my headshot (the same one used on my exhibition invite, my website and across my social platforms) that they acknowledged had helped them feel comfortable approaching me.

“I recognised you straight away,” one visitor said. “I saw your face on the leaflet and knew I could come and say hello.”

It really emphasised how powerful a consistent, professional image can be in building trust, even before a single word is spoken.
