So she who wins nothing (me) actually won a competition through @vanilla.magazine. A trip to @jarroldnorwich for a makeover with @makeupbyphillippa and time with a lovely personal shopper @katymichael2 So Simply took a rare day off (gasp, shock, horror) and had a quality time out “us time” with me chum Cords… The staff were fantastic, the food in the restaurant was utterly sublime. We Simply had the most enjoyable and memorable day. Nothing was too much trouble. I’d never been before. What a store x Simply fantastic x very grateful x Now - back to work x

I recently stumbled across an article that looked at the decline in worldwide shipments of digital camera sales - a reduction of 87% since 2010! (You can read the article here https://buff.ly/3o47vbE)⠀
I Simply adore using my camera and I feel a little sad that so many people seem to be happy just to snap on their smart phones instead - you really don't know what you're missing.⠀

Personal post x I was very humbled and proud to see my recent client Barnes Construction had posted in all their social media about me working with them yesterday. As you’ve probably noticed I love to shout about my clients, supporting them and spreading the local love but it’s rare to find it happen the other way and no, I didn’t bribe anyone!!! I’ve wanted to work with Barnes Construction for years and when they called me up to chat about a forthcoming project I had to work really, really hard to not squeal with excitement and be uber cool and professional (I failed by the way and squealed quietly)! So, not only did I get to meet and capture the whole staff/team and all Directors but completed a whole set of branded images for their website and social media - plus a stunning new build under construction at Homerton College in Cambridge. I Simply loooove architectural photography and capturing the build process on site is right up my street, plus I feel the steel toe capped boots give me that special “je ne sais quoi”😉 This superb commission has been so wonderful and has given me a huge amount of personal pleasure. I’ve so enjoyed working with them all. So to get featured by them is the Cherry on the top and had to share. Sorry x Smiling from ear to ear…Simply happy x Wow…..

Does anyone else find themselves thinking more about food on these damp, cold afternoons? When the nights start to creep in its all I can do to resist curling up on the sofa with a pizza and a glass of wine (though that's allowed sometimes!)⠀

Maybe that's why I find pictures like these so appealing on days like these.... But then again - they made me feel hungry in the summer time too! And that's the power of great food images. Photos so good you can almost smell that melting cheese and taste the icing all year round....⠀

Simply a story teller... So when I was a wee youn

Simply a story teller... So when I was a wee young thing reading books and writing stories was a real love of mine, a passion that has never left me. I'd often be found hidden behind a curtain nose in book and biting my fingernails (thank full I've stopped that habit)! As I became a teenager I found drawing and photography an extension of story telling that I can use as dialogue instead or in addition to the written word. My eye sees the subtle nuances of detail in life so much and it is important to me to capture that in the subject I'm photographing as I feel those small often overlooked elements can enhance and highlight authenticity and reality. If there are elements to your business that you often feel are overlooked but key to your business and would help you stand out over your competitors then perhaps we need to have a chat. I have been wonderfully busy this month capturing a whole variety of commercial work including new headshots and food photography. I’ve been covering new projects for some very well respected businesses around the county, even getting muddy on a construction site in Cambridge on a stunning building, keep your eyes peeled. They changed from Ipswich Building Society to Suffolk Building Society…rebranding - its all encompassing, as was this project. Capturing the Board, the staff across the sites and their rebranding has been a huge pleasure and honour for me. I’ve been working 7 days a week now for the last three weeks and this week has been another full week including travelling all over Suffolk and Kent capturing a variety of imagery for very different businesses. The one thing my clients share is that their business has a real story to tell, gorgeous people, products or services to sell and they need imagery that can capture and show that. There’s a perception that my job is Simply easy peasy lemon squeezy, after all all I have to do is press the shutter, right? My knees and back groan all the time, a. because I is “old” (still 30 in my mind) but b. because my job is both mentally and physically challenging. Here is an example of with a few behind the scenes images from today’s rather fabulous shoot for a new local business @mamanourish_uk Up on tables, lying on the floor, in a kitchen sink and in a cupboard - whatever it takes to get THAT shot that says and sells everything about a product.
