Fun professional headshots? I’ll Take Two!

Having your photo taken isn’t always a pleasure. Fortunately, the best photographers aren’t just good with the camera,  they also have a natural ability to put you at ease, and make having professional headshots a joy.

Two types of people talk about painless headshots. Snipers and photographers. And for some of my clients who have had bad experiences with past photographers, they’d Simply be more at ease with the latter than someone aiming a camera in their direction.

I understand their concerns completely. After all, when you have a professional headshot taken, that image will stay with you for years. It will represent you on your website, social media, and beyond. Being happy with that image is incredibly important.

If you’ve had a bad experience in the past, it’s understandable that you might be apprehensive – even fearful – about getting a new headshot. If you didn’t enjoy the shoot last time, you probably didn’t like the pictures either. Not being at ease rarely translates into a natural, relaxed photograph.

For me, it’s not just about the actual photos. I love to sit down with my clients, get to know them, and understand what the message or narrative is they want to convey… who are they? And what is the ‘real them’ that they want to convey to the rest of the world?

That means mixing creative ideas with a commercial sensibility. I love being able to present my clients with a suite of images that are credible, classy and expressive, which enables them to proudly show their best and truest self to the rest of the world.

But it’s also about taking the time to help my clients relax, feel at ease, and forget there’s a fancy professional camera pointing at them.
