Value of client relationships -Headshots and more for Morgan Sindall’s Cambridge Away Day

Let’s talk abut the value of client relationships. There’s something very rewarding about a recurring booking with my clients, confirmation that I’m delivering the right mix of quality, reliability and that bit of extra value that clients appreciate. This is exemplified by the completion of my third shoot for Morgan Sindall’s Cambridge office, a construction and property client I am very proud to work with.
This time, I was invited to join them for their company away day in the beautiful setting of Hinxton Hall, Cambridge. The stunning venue lent itself perfectly as a backdrop, but there was one caveat that I had to factor in: I wouldn’t be able to shoot during the presentations and with 62 team headshots to capture, this meant I had to put all of my planning and professional skills into action. Opportunities were very limited, and planning was key.
Get ready….
Before the day, I did a recce of the venue to agree on the best position for the headshots (factoring in light and space) and created a timed schedule for when I’d have people available. Without that preparation, it Simply wouldn’t have been possible to deliver.
A Tiny Window of Time
On the day I arrived super early, camera in hand, ready to go by 8am. I had a 45 minute slot before the talks began to get through as many headshots as possible. Then, during the 15 minute coffee break, I had everyone queued up with no time for small talk, just quick adjustments, focus and shoot!
My final chance then came at lunchtime, catching the remaining team members as they came out. It was full on, but because of the careful pre-shoot preparation, everything ran like clockwork.
Going Beyond the Brief
I always like to think beyond just the immediate request and give clients something extra that will help them. So, whilst a corporate photography brief and plan were imperative, with the incredible Charlie Martin, racing driver and motivational speaker as their special guest, I could already see there were additional opportunities to capture more than just headshots, I Simply had to get some shots of her in action.
I also photographed the interior of the venue itself so that Morgan Sindall ended up with a mix of stunning property imagery and event coverage for their social media and internal communications.
Why I Love Repeat Work
When a client comes back again, it means they trust my approach. Whether it’s corporate headshots, event photography, or property imagery, they know I’ll deliver what they need, even under time pressure or unusual circumstances. Working with Morgan Sindall for the third time in such a beautiful location reminded me why I value recurring bookings so much. I do not take the value of client relationships for granted and strive to only build on growing that strategic partnership and trust.
