When one thing leads to another…

One of my favourite aspects of commercial photography is how through Simply connecting, one project can lead on to another – not through luck, but because of the connections you make along the way. And my recent photoshoots with okoHaus illustrate perfectly how good photography isn’t just about creating wonderful photographs, it’s about telling the entire story – and more!
And while we are on the subject of connections, even this commission began with a referral from Andrew Laws, an SEO professional I’d worked with before.
okoHaus are experts in high-performance window & door systems, and offer products from some of the most sustainable window and door companies on the market. The initial brief was simple: they needed headshots, shots of their stylish showroom, and photographs of the team at work for a client. Easy peasy… but as we collaborated, it also became evident that some robust case study photography would provide valuable content for them to really show their story in action.
Here, commercial branding photography stands out for what it can do: it’s not Simply producing flattering pictures, it’s creating photographs with a point. Photos with a message, conveying a solution, and establishing trust between a company and its customers. It's also about the added value I can bring in understanding how to maximise a photoshoot and produce a valuable portfolio of consistent brand images.
From there, okoHaus referred me to one of their primary suppliers, Velfac Windows. Velfac were themselves working on an installation in Suffolk and required photography for their own promotion as well. I was separately commissioned by them to shoot images of their products in place, with the installation team at work. It’s this type of crossover that makes this job especially fulfilling. It’s all about connections, teamwork, and seeing the bigger picture. By capturing pictures of the showroom, the site, the individuals, and the products, you convey a full, honest picture of how a business lives and what it brings to the table.
That is what a good commercial brand photographer does: they create a visual storyline selling a solution, not merely a service. And if those stories quite naturally weave between clients, all the better.
